Pathways Academy
Florida Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Program
What is Pathways Academy?
Pathways Academy is an inclusive Postsecondary Comprehensive Transition Program for adult students with an intellectual, developmental, or significant learning disability that may make it difficult for you to be successful in a traditional postsecondary program. We have instructional programs to serve a wide range of students, from those who may need to focus on basic work skills and transition skills to those who can complete or partially complete a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. Our goal is to meet students exactly where they are and empower them to achieve their fullest potential.

Program Options
We have three distinct pathways, each designed to meet the varied needs of students:
Work & Transition Focus (Specialized Career Instruction): This option is for students who need to focus on basic employment and transition skills. These students may be most successful with more routine and less transition in their day and may require more support in adapting to the postsecondary campus, adhering to a schedule, etc. While these students may not be suited for independent participation in a CTE program lab, they will participate in a more supported capacity and will primarily gain work skills through on-campus work experience. This pathway is perfect for those who would benefit from a more customized employment placement. Students in this track will complete 900-1800 hours of Specialized Career Instruction.
Blended Career & Transition Skills (Specialized Career Instruction with CTE Lab Instruction): This pathway is for students who need less intensive support and can independently navigate CTE labs but may struggle with the full CTE program curriculum. Students will divide their instructional day between work and transition skills and hands-on, career-specific skills learned directly from a CTE instructor and in on-campus work experience. Students will enroll in Specialized Career Instruction and may transition into a traditional CTE program or continue with Specialized Career Instruction with a focus on CTE lab skills. This program also spans 900-1800 hours.
Supported CTE Completion (Traditional CTE Track): This option is for students who can complete or partially complete a CTE program with no modifications. These students are ready for a traditional CTE program but require additional support that goes beyond what a nondisabled student would need to be successful. Students in this track must meet the individual program requirements for eligibility and completion of the respective CTE program, with hours determined by the specific CTE program.
